The military papers of Colonel Henry Bouquet, Brigadier General of America, Lieutenant Colonel of the Royal American Regiment, 1754-1764.

GUIDE: Reference Folder #92 Bouquet was a British army officer in the French and Indian Wars. He was second in command to Gen. John Forbes in the successful expedition (1758) against the French at Fort Duquesne (Pittsburgh). In Pontiac’s Rebellion he decisively defeated the Native Americans at Bushy Run (Aug., 1763) near Pittsburgh. In 1764, Bouquet led an expedition into the Ohio Country that was part of a larger British effort to reduce hostilities with the Native Americans in the West. Following his expedition, Bouquet negotiated a surrender with the Delaware, Shawnee and Wyandot. This set from the British Library consists of 29 volumes of letters and other documents relating to military events in America. Included are letters from Colonel George Washington, commissariat papers and cash books from the Royal American Regiment, and papers relating to Indian affairs. The papers also comprise British Library Add. mss. 21631-216660.
