Data Sync Coordinator

The  Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is an international consortium of university, college, and independent research libraries collectively building, stewarding, and sharing a wealth of resource materials from all world regions to support inspired research and teaching. CRL is seeking a self-starter with awareness of library shared print collections and familiarity with transfer protocols, such as FTP. The position is responsible for coordinating the synchronization of existing shared print holdings between CRL’s PAPR and OCLC’s WorldCat databases.  

 

DUTIES INLCUDE: 

  • Develop and implement project plan to complete the synchronization of existing shared print holdings between CRL’s PAPR and OCLC’s WorldCat databases. 
  • Communicate effectively with team members, other department members and external contacts. 
  • Work with PAPR team members to extract data from either PAPR or WorldCat, validate data, prepare validation reports, update data and report on progress. 
  • Work with team members to optimize process and to document opportunities for workflow improvement. 
  • Assist team members with documentation of processes. 
  • Provide support for data gathering, analysis and reporting. 
  • Provide liaison support with shared print program managers. 
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience. 
  • Knowledge of MARC21 format for bibliographic and holdings data. 
  • Proven successful track record in data integrity/data management. 
  • High level of experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, along with a solid working understanding of charts and pivot tables. 
  • Familiar with text file formats such as CSV, TSV, etc. and character encoding, UTF-8. 
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, along with the abilities to develop, evaluate and implement a project plan. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. 
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
