This webinar will examine how LOCKSS technology and the CLOCKSS model approach the challenges of preserving elusive journal materials, helping small publishers overcome some obstacles to submitting e-journals for digital archiving.

New tools from Portico enable comparison of library holdings to titles archived in Portico, to determine the completeness of archived content. Speakers from Portico will demonstrate some of these tools.

At this point in the age of digital technologies, electronic publications can be short-lived or unstable, while our understanding of digital preservation infrastructures is in the earliest stages. TRAIL (Technical Report Archive & Image Library) will hold an Information and Update session from 10:30 - 11:30 am Eastern time on Saturday, January 9, in Boston, in conjunction with the ALA Midwinter Meeting.  The session will be held in Room 107C of the Boston Convention Center.

The PAPR II Summit is an invitational gathering intended to formulate a common vision for the further development and growth of shared research library collections, and to determine priorities for CRL support of same, in order to prevent the loss of critical print journals and government publications.  
In cooperation with the IFLA News Media Section, the Center for Research Libraries will convene representatives of national and academic libraries, commercial producers and aggregators of news content, and cultural and funding organizations to assess the state of international newspaper digitization and preservation, and to better align future library and commercial efforts, investment and funding in these areas.
