This set has attempted to provide the basic literature on certain key themes in the history of European Freemasonry: its origins, rituals, myths and symbols, its every-day practices, anti-Freemasonry, the role of women, Freemasonry and the French Revolution and a sampling of nineteenth century Masonic literature drawn especially from Germany where Freemasonry remained very strong.
