Microfilming of Indian Publications

Overview

The Microfilming of Indian Publications Project (MIPP) is in the process of preserving and making accessible all 55,992 books listed in The National Bibliography of Indian Literature: 1901-1953 (NBIL) along with the pre-1954 titles in the NBIL supplement. These books, written in the twenty-two major languages of South Asia, are selected by a group of Indian scholars for their central importance to humanistic understanding of India.

Project Status

The ongoing preservation project is currently on hiatus at the request of the Government of India. Ongoing efforts will identify additional holding repositories of content.  The Center for Research Libraries has digitized a variety of MIPP content in response to scholar requests.
