    Catalog

The CRL Library Catalog provides comprehensive access to all CRL holdings—both physical and digital. Every item is cataloged, and digital resources include direct links from their catalog records. This is the best single point of access for CRL materials, including the ability to request digitization of physical items.

    Digital Collections

This platform hosts CRL’s digitized materials, including both open-access and member-restricted collections. Enhanced browsing and navigation tools make it ideal for users seeking only digital content. Access to member-restricted items requires your institution’s IP registration with CRL and use of a proxy connection.

    Description

Schlager Group’s Essential Primary Sources collection bridges the gap between high-level research archives and undergraduate classroom instruction. Designed to support core humanities and social science curricula—including U.S. History, American Government, and Ethnic & Gender Studies—this digital collection pairs curated historical documents with exclusive, modern scholar commentaries. By the end of 2026, the collection will include 56 core books, with 3,500 primary sources and 2,500 scholar commentaries.

Unlike traditional passive archives, Essential Primary Sources is engineered as an active, library-funded teaching infrastructure tool that delivers immediate institutional value:

    ·       Turnkey LMS Integration: Features stable proxy links, allowing instructors, GTAs, and adjuncts to drop primary source reading modules directly into Canvas, Blackboard, or any other LMS in minutes.

    ·       ZTC & OER Alignment: Functions as a complete, library-licensed textbook replacement across high-enrollment introductory survey courses, significantly reducing student textbook costs while driving high-volume platform usage (low CPU).

    ·       Academic Integrity & AI Resistance: Pairs primary documents with contextual analysis by subject experts, providing ready-made assignment prompts that challenge students to engage with exclusive commentary rather than relying on AI text generation.

    ·       Broad Pedagogical Utility: Serves as a versatile dual-use resource—providing lower-division undergraduates with scaffolded primary source analysis tools while offering robust material for upper-division thematic research.
