Streamlining the Catalog Search

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

Finding primary resource materials for advanced research is now easy and fast with Catalog Search, the newly redesigned search feature on the Center’s Web site. The Catalog Search interface, one click from the homepage, brings together some of the Center’s most popular collection resources in an easy-to-use layout with:

  • quick links to the Center’s digital collections.
  • a Finding Aids section with links to topic guides, newspaper and microform collections, and more.
  • basic and advanced search capabilities, including Boolean and advanced keyword searches, a list of widely used search tips, and other helpful options.
  • a Requesting Materials guideline, that makes borrowing easier and faster.

The Catalog Search feature is the product of a continuous effort to optimize user access to Center collections and resources and to “close the gap” between the time users spend searching for appropriate materials and actually obtaining content. The Center welcomes your comments and suggestions for enhancing the Web site and other resources. Please send them to Morgan Elmore, Web and Digital Library Specialist.
