CRL’s Senior Advisor on Electronic Strategies, Ann Okerson, has received outstanding recognition for her recent publication, The Once and Future Publishing Library. Written with Alex Holzman and published by CLIR, Okerson’s study observes how the factors transforming the publishing landscape have impacted publishing initiatives sponsored by American academic libraries. Okerson and Holzman received the 2016 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Outstanding Publication Award. In announcing the award ALCTS noted that “the topic is timely, the insights incisive and the work is rich with questions and recommendations.”

This study is also the recipient of the 2016 LPC Award for Outstanding Research in Library Publishing , recognizing significant and timely contributions to library publishing theory and practice. LPC cited the authors’ work exploring “the revitalization of library publishing and its possible future, examining elements that influence the success and sustainability of library publishing initiatives.”

The report was funded by a grant from The Goodall Family Charitable Foundation.
