Overview
Abstract
East View Information Services is planning on launching a new database containing both archives and current issues of Izvestiia, which they note as “one of the oldest Russian newspapers, founded in March 1917. This title is remarkable for its serious and balanced treatment of subject matter.”
This review is in progress. CRL is working to gather more information and critical assessment. We encourage our community to submit comments on their experiences with the database.

Collection Content
East View reports that the source for the scanned content is microfilm it has produced. The quality of the images is expected to be better than Pravda (also digitized by East View). But reportedly East View is also considering introduction of a “Report Problem” button for immediate reporting of poor images, poor text, or other user-observed issues. East View will seek other sources to replace poor quality images.
