TRAC and TDR Checklists
Trusted Repository Audit Checklist (TRAC)
A number of tools and metrics have been developed by various preservation organizations to enable producers, publishers, aggregators, and users of digital content to assess repositories. The basis for most of these tools and metrics is the Trustworthy Repositories Audit & Certification: Criteria and Checklist (TRAC).
Trustworthy Repositories Audit & Certification: Criteria and Checklist (TRAC), based upon the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) Reference Model framework, was developed by a task force under the auspices of OCLC's Research Libraries Group (RLG) and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The final version of TRAC, published in 2007, also draws upon the experience and findings of test audits of several repositories by the Center for Research Libraries in 2005-2006.
CRL Use of the TRAC Checklist
CRL has audited and certified four repositories as TRAC compliant. To read more about these audits and their results, please refer to the reports below:
Trustworthy Digital Repository Checklist (TDR)
The Trustworthy Digital Repository Checklist (TDR) is an ISO standard that is largely based upon the TRAC metrics. CRL has participated in this working group. This standard is also known as ISO 16363. An accreditation process for ISO 16363 auditors is in development.
