This quarterly webinar will report on the current status of major CRL initiatives and programs. Presentations will focus on three areas:

2:00-2:30 p.m. CDT   Digitization: “World Newspaper Archive & Global Press Archive: Aligning News Digitization Efforts”
Presenter: James Simon Recording

CRL recently announced a proposed collaboration with East View Information Services to digitize a substantial collection of international newspapers through East View’s Global Press Archive. CRL also continues to work with members to develop new collections through the World Newspaper Archive. Staff will highlight key features of each program and describe how the two support CRL’s priorities for making global news content accessible to member institutions.

2:30-3:00 p.m. CDT  Shared Print: "Members Council Update - Integrating CRL Print in a North American Shared Collections Network"
Presenter: Marie Waltz Recording

At the May 17th Council of Voting Members meeting, representatives of member libraries weighed in on strategic directions for CRL's next decade that emerged from recent Board and management planning (including those actions originally outlined in “CRL’s Agenda for Shared Print, 2017-2026”). This session will highlight the points of consensus and next steps in the strategy for “Integrating CRL print in a North American shared collections network.”

3:00-3:30 p.m. CDT  Licensing: "Members Council Update - Investment in Open Access and Shared Digital Resources"
Presenter: Bernard Reilly Recording

The second strategic discussion topic covered at the Council meeting addressed “aggressive investment in open access and shared digital resources.” This session will summarize the wide-ranging discussion in the context of CRL’s evolving approach toward supporting efforts by nonprofit, civil society, and university-based initiatives that favor open access and transparency.

Registrants are encouraged to tune in to any or all of these three segments.

CRL quarterly webinars are open to all librarians, staff, and faculty at CRL member institutions. Most are recorded and available for later access. Additional information on accessing CRL webinars can be found under Membership.
