Alice Trussell, an active member of the TRAIL Steering Committee since its founding, has been awarded the Homer I. Bernhardt Distinguished Service Award for 2018 from the Engineering Libraries Division of the American Society for Engineering Eduction.

New Appointments to CSPC

The 2018 appointments will support CSPC's role in shaping CRL collection development and services.

CRL's premiere collection of executive branch serial documents issued by Brazil’s government is now fully searchable and downloadable.

Since 2010, CRL and LLMC's Global Resources Law Partnership has vastly expanded access to U.S. State and Candian Province legislative resources. 

The South Asia Open Archives (SAOA), administered by the Center for Research Libraries (CRL), has recently begun digitizing the Indian Newspaper Reports containing weekly translations and summaries of local Anglo-Indian and vernacular-language newspapers from the late nineteenth through the early twentieth century, from throughout South Asia.

CRL and the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering and Technology (LHL) have digitized several historical automotive serials in the second round of cooperative strategic digitization of serials jointly held by the two organizations.

Highlights from the 2018 PAN Forum at ALA 2018 Midwinter conference titled, “Validation of Shared Print Collections.”

As of January, 2018, CRL voting member libraries have access to the new online review ccAdvisor, a collaboration between Choice and the Charleston Company.

CRL staff members will be available at ALA's 2018 Midwinter Meeting in Denver, CO, for questions on CRL programs.

Through an NEH-funded planning effort, CRL will mine bibliographic records for historical print serials reformatted through major humanities preservation efforts, to address a significant gap in “actionable” information for libraries responsible for the stewardship of critical humanities resources.

CRL voting member libraries have approved the acquisition of ten microform, reprint, and CD/DVD collections through the 2018 Purchase Proposal Program. List price value $132,538 (depending on the exchange rate). Once acquired, the collections will be available through interlibrary loan from CRL.  

The South Asia Materials Project (SAMP) has digitized the magazine Nalupu (Black) for the entire run of its publication, April 1989-June 1993.  This is one of the pioneering magazines which brought together discussions of caste and class politics in the Telugu-speaking regions of India.

CRL's Global Resources Law Partnership, now renewed through 2020, will preserve and provide digital access to rich source materials on law, government and civil society.

CRL welcomes new members and branch campuses added since the July 1 start of the fiscal year. Total membership currently stands at 213 institutions in North America and various other global areas.

The South Asia Open Archives (SAOA) is a newly established cooperative effort of nearly 25 libraries from the US and the Subcontinent to make collection of historical research materials on South Asia freely available via the web..
