TRAIL Welcomes 50th Member

TRAIL (the Technical Report Archive & Image Library) celebrates a major membership milestone by welcoming Virginia Tech as its 50th institutional member.

During its 2018-2019 funding cycle, Project CERES funded two proposals for the digitization and preservation of agricultural publications spanning 1913 to 1988. The projects include collections from the University of Tennessee and Colorado State University.

MARC records for technical reports digitized by TRAIL can now be retrieved from OCLC's WorldShare Metadata Services, Collection Manager.

The recently added UK Data Service, an online data portal featuring UK governmental data, is eDesiderata’s 500th electronic resource entry.

Alice Trussell, an active member of the TRAIL Steering Committee since its founding, has been awarded the Homer I. Bernhardt Distinguished Service Award for 2018 from the Engineering Libraries Division of the American Society for Engineering Eduction.

Since 2010, CRL and LLMC's Global Resources Law Partnership has vastly expanded access to U.S. State and Candian Province legislative resources. 

CRL and the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering and Technology (LHL) have digitized several historical automotive serials in the second round of cooperative strategic digitization of serials jointly held by the two organizations.

CRL's Global Resources Law Partnership, now renewed through 2020, will preserve and provide digital access to rich source materials on law, government and civil society.

CRL welcomes new members and branch campuses added since the July 1 start of the fiscal year. Total membership currently stands at 213 institutions in North America and various other global areas.

New Appointments to CSPC

The Collections and Services Policy Committee plays a critical role in shaping CRL collection development and services.

The TRAIL collection now contains more than 61,500 federal technical reports, including over 4.5 million pages of content.

At its recent Annual Council Meeting, the Board of Directors of the Center for Research Libraries welcomed two new members and elected officers for the upcoming year.

The Demand Purchase program is a key service through which CRL acquires materials identified by researchers that may be costly, difficult to obtain, or beyond the scope of local collection policies. Patrons at CRL institutions may request materials from CRL in specific categories--foreign dissertations, newspapers, and archival material--with a maximum expenditure of $2,000 per patron per year.
