The University of Sheffield (UK) is the newest international member of CAMP (Cooperative Africana Microform Project).  CAMP, founded in 1963, is a joint effort by research libraries throughout the world and the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) to promote the preservation of publications and archives concerning the nearly fifty nations of Sub-Saharan Africa

The new issue (V11N2) of The Charleston Advisor (TCA), a print and online review of electronic resources for libraries, has been released.

Voting has begun on the CRL FY2010 Purchase Proposal Ballot. This year CRL will allocate $135,000 to the purchase of collections through this program.

The goal of the initiative is to significantly reduce costs, increase accessibility, and foster long-term preservation of journals, newspapers, and government documents for scholars and researchers in the CRL community.

In June, 2009, ProQuest launched American Periodicals from the Center for Research Libraries (APCRL), which ultimately will contain nearly three million pages of CRL journal content with full-color scans and searchable text.

CRL initiated its new Primary Source Awards program in the fall of 2009. Primary Source Awards will recognize the contributions of research and teaching faculty, librarians and library staff, graduate students, and others within the CRL community for their creative use of primary source materials in three arenas: research, teaching, and access.

The next meeting of the Middle East Microform Project (MEMP) will be held during the MELA Conference in Cambridge, Massachusetts on November 19, 2009.

CRL announces its Human Rights blog to promote findings of its investigation into the use of technology in human rights practices. The purpose of the blog is to circulate information about human rights documentation, digital technology, archiving strategies and related information.
