GNARP presence at Bibliothekskongress in Leipzig in March 2016

The German-North American Resources Partnership (GNARP) is funding six travel stipends to support member travel to the Bibliothekskongress in Leipzig, Germany March 14–17, 2016.  The stipends are funded by GNARP to support members who are presenting at or attending the conference to increase communication and collaboration with colleagues in Germany. The theme of the 2016 Bibliothekskongress in Leipzig is “Library Spaces—Real and Digital” and 3,000 librarians are expected to attend this event, which directly precedes the Leipzig Book Fair.

  • Diana Brooking, University of Washington
  • Lindsay Hansen, California State University in Northridge
  • Heidi Madden, Duke University
  • Kathleen Smith, Stanford University
  • Kizer Walker, Cornell University

Judy Alspach (Area Studies Program Manager) will also attend the Bibliothekskongress to help promote the work of GNARP and facilitate opportunities for GNARP librarians to meet with German colleagues.

The United States is the Guest of Honor country this year at the Bibliothekskongress in Leipzig, and will be recognized as the Partner Country of the Bibliothek & Information International (BII) for 2016-2019.  German-US library cooperation will be broadened through project activity during the next three years through virtual events, digital products, and library conference programming.
