CRL has created a searchable registry of information on print archiving initiatives, including projects and serial holdings.

The prototype database includes a narrative description of each Project as well as specific characteristics—such as Format Archived and Retention Period—with a link to the host institution for more information.

The database includes holdings for the following consortia: Five Colleges, Inc. (MA); the Orbis-Cascade Alliance (Pacific Northwest); the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI); and the Triangle Research Libraries Network (North Carolina); as well as holdings of digital archives at Portico and CLOCKSS. CRL will continue to add projects and archived holdings as data becomes available.

Available searches include:

  • Search by ISSN, to display archive locations and holdings for a given serial
  • Filter all titles by Archiver (e.g. CRL, TRLN, Portico) or Aggregator (JSTOR) to show titles and holdings for those organizations

This prototype database is part of CRL’s effort to support and encourage print archiving efforts throughout North America.

For more information about the Print Archives Registry or to submit holdings data as a simple tab-delimited text file, please contact Lizanne Payne, CRL Print Archives Program Manager, at lpayne@crl.edu.
