WNA Latin American Newspapers updateMay 13 2009
We are pleased to announce that Latin American Newspapers, the initial collection in the World Newspaper Archive (WNA), now contains more than 425,000 pages of content, nearly half of the originally projected content for the module. The collection now incorporates eleven titles, including significant holdings of La Nacion and La Prensa from Argentina, El Comercio from Peru, and others. Readex continues to release content on a rolling basis.
As of July 1, 2009, there will be a small annual access fee of $215 for all CRL member libraries electing to have full access to the electronic collection. In addition, institutions that are not charter participants will have an initial purchase price for the module (see Pricing Schedule for a sample of fees based on annual library materials expenditures). Price quotes are being issued to all non-charter institutions by post and electronic copy. wna [at] crl [dot] edu (Contact us) if you have not yet received a copy.
Please note that subscription to this module is optional. CRL will continue to maintain the microfilm copies of the WNA papers and will continue to make them available to your library through interlibrary loan as a regular benefit of CRL membership. CRL has added new titles to its microfilm holdings to ensure comprehensive archiving of the WNA content.
More information can be found in the Terms & Conditions of Use for CRL Members, which details the partnership arrangements for access to WNA in accordance with CRL’s agreement with NewsBank.
Please notify us before June 15, 2009, if you wish to arrange continued access to the Latin American Newspapers module.
