Nomination Process

Nominations will be accepted and processed as follows:

  • Late May–February: Nominations are accepted online until midnight on January 31, 2020.
  • February–April: CRL’s  Collection and Services Policy Committee reviews all eligible applications.
  • May: Awardees and their nominators are notified. Primary Source Awards are announced during CRL's Council of Voting Members Annual Meeting in May, and announced in CRL's FOCUS publication.

Eligibility

Persons nominated for Primary Source Awards must be librarians, faculty members (includes adjunt faculty, instructors, graduate assistants), graduate students, or administrators at CRL member institutions. Projects or scholarly products must have been initiated or completed within two years of the submission deadline. CRL welcomes projects executed by groups, but one person must be selected as the chief awardee. Self-nominations are welcome. Only one entry per institution per year will be accepted.

Runner-up entries are entered for the following year's selection process.

Please contact CRL Events with any questions about the nomination process.

Review and Evaluation

The Collections and Services Policy Committee, which is comprised of nine individuals from CRL institutions and chaired by a CRL board member, reviews all the eligible applications for the Primary Source Awards. Committee members must recuse themselves if nominees from their institution are under consideration for an award.

Award Announcements and Awards

The Primary Source Awardees and their nominators will be announced at the CRL Council of Voting Members Annual Meeting, and will be notified prior to the meeting. The awardees will also be recognized through other appropriate media.

Awardees may select either a $500 gift certificate from the Apple Store or Powell's Books; nominators receive a $300 Powell's gift certificate.
