CRL collects materials directly through purchase, exchange, deposit, and born-digital ingest.

East View Information Services and the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) have launched Post-Perestroika Newspapers, the fourth in-copyright collection of titles digitized under the Global Press Archive(GPA) CRL Alliance and the first collection from Phase 2 of the program. Post-Perestroika joins three other in-copyright collections funded through the Alliance: 

CRL is pleased to announce that it is implementing FOLIO as its new library services platform, a direction that is tightly aligned with CRL’s core values of open infrastructure and responsible operations. Further complimenting these enhancements, a new online catalog will go live on June 15, 2022, bringing enhanced discovery experiences to online patrons and researchers.

On March 23-24 the "Truth, Justice, Memory: Documentary Evidence in the Digital Age" conference will take place at El Colegio de México, where the digital platform Repository of Documentation on Disappearances in Mexico (RDDM) will launch.

Yearly, through the Purchase Proposal Program, CRL members nominate collections for acquisition which are then evaluated and voted on by membership. Once acquired, the materials are available for use by member libraries and their researchers through interlibrary loan. Member participation in the Purchase Proposal Program is one of the ways the CRL community builds a collective collection, providing access to resources that may otherwise be too costly for individual institutions to obtain.

CIFNAL’s Engaging Francophone Partners Working Group announces its spring Speaker Series.

The organizing committee of The New Shape of Sharing: Networks, Expertise, Information is pleased to share the report generated from this forum, which took place from January to April 2021. The Report details current key issues facing European collections as seen through a series of presentations and a poster session by librarians and members of the book trade from North America and Europe. At a final interactive meeting, attendees discussed practical ways to respond to the ideas and issues raised during the event.

East View Information Services and the Center for Research Libraries have launched East Asian Newspapers, the second in-copyright collection of titles digitized under the Global Press Archive CRL Alliance. East African Newspapers follows Middle Eastern and North African Newspapers, the Alliance's first in-copyright collection, and is available to all Center for Research Libraries members and other institutions supporting the Alliance

CRL's newly appointed International Collections and Content Group (ICC) calls on the international library programs based at CRL to explore the challenges and opportunities in front of our communities and through that exploration, to consider new ways of working together. 

The new position will leverage Abrams' expertise in digital curation and coalition building to advance CRL's collection programs and major collaborations focused on digital access to international resources for academic research and teaching.

The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is pleased to announce the results of the 2021 Purchase Proposal Program ballot. This year, CRL members voted to acquire four new collections representing a broad range of research interests across the membership.

This is a friendly reminder that the deadline to submit nominations for the FY21 Purchase Proposal Program is September 30, 2020. This program is one of the ways our research library community collectively builds, stewards, and shares materials to support inspired research and teaching. 

As a research Library, CRL shares its members’ strong interest in access to contemporary news content to support research and teaching without geographic or linguistic limits.

Twenty-two MARC records are now available for the Late Qing and Republican-era Chinese newspapers, the first Open Access module from the Global Press Archive collection.

CRL negotiates extraordinary access to archival and special collections content from Gale Primary Sources to assist students, faculty, and staff at CRL member institutions working remotely in response to COVID-19. CRL members have unlimited access to a number of archives and customized webinars in Gale Primary Sources from now until June 30, 2020.
