Following last year’s Global Resources Roundtable “Beyond the Fold: Access to News in the Digital Era,” CRL outlined a New Cooperative Agenda for News Preservation. The agenda specified measures research libraries might take to ensure that the journalistic record will continue to be available and usable by scholars in the future.

This members-only webinar will describe CRL’s progress on strategies to address major challenges in the news arena. CRL staff will present:

  • Analysis of the new uses of news data in research and teaching;
  • An update on CRL’s negotiations with providers of major commercial databases including The New York Times, World News Connection, and others;
  • CRL’s ongoing work in assessing coverage in news databases, and a proposed rating scheme for measuring the integrity of major news repositories and platforms; and
  • Enhancements to the ICON Database of newspapers to increase the amount and quality of data available on digitized news back files.

CRL hosts webinars throughout the year. More information on those webinars can be found in the Membership section.
