340 titles from Indonesia. Dates range from as
early as 1982 to 2001, with the bulk of periodicals
dating 1998-2000. Size ranges from 21 - 58 cm.

for Consideration (Importance of material, history of
collection, physical condition, etc.) |
These
newspapers document the tumultuous times of Indonesian
history when people took active action to get more freedoms
and have participation in the government. The tabloids
also document the freedom of the press that the Indonesians
finally got and chronicle the events from different
vantage points. Many tabloids
only lasted a few issues, but several titles (Jubi,
Pop, Mingguan Pria, SuaR 168, Tashwirul afkar, Tokoh,
and Tuah Sakato among others) are still continuing
publication.
The following cost considerations
are estimates only. The figures are based on
page counts of the core collection received from Cornell,
plus an expected 10% addition from contributing institutions.
SEAM will make every effort to fill in gaps for titles
from U.S. and overseas institutions. If the
expected cost increases more than $1000, we will resubmit
the proposal for committee approval.
