Bene Israel titles (1920-1930)
Publications of the Bene
Israel community in India. The culture and history
of the Bene Israel Jews (one of three Jewish communities
in India) is reflected in publications held by SAMP members
and other institutions within the United States.
Status: Proposed 4/1996. No progress made.

Eelakesari
SAMP is investigating the acquisition of this
Tamil newspaper from Sri Lanka (available on film from the
International Tamils' Archive). New York Public Library
has filmed [1932-June 1, 1938].
Status: Proposed 2004. Difficulty reaching

Fort William College Project
SAMP considered filming Fort William imprints
that were not already reformatted. SAMP had approved
$500 for Columbia to research records via the NUC.

Gadar Party Collection
This collection has been transferred to the
Bancroft Library at Berkeley. SAMP approved funds
to film unique items from the collection. The Hindustan
Gadar (Ghadar) party was an Indian nationalist
party based in northern California from 1900 through the
1920s. The collection includes publications
from the movement as well as related publications from India
and Canada on social and political reform.

Gorkhapatra
The oldest newspaper in Nepal (having begun
publication in 1901), Gorkhapatra continues to
be the newspaper of record for the government's point of
view. Allen Thrasher proposed filming early years
[details are not available]. At the SAMP meeting in
April 1996, it was reported that Mary DeChene planned to
purchase a camera and donate it to an institution in Nepal
so that the newspaper could be filmed.

Jamia Millia Islamia
SAMP has discussed exploring a relationship with Jamia
Millia Islamia to film its journals, newspapers, and manuscripts
on a selective basis.

Kaifiats
SAMP will acquire a microfilm copy of the
Kaifiats [from the Col. Mackenzie collection] at the
Andhra Pradesh State Archives.
