Fran Pritchett,
Shamsur Rahman Faruqi, and other Urdu-walas have identified
this journal as the most important literary journal
of Urdu (published continuously since 1966), so it's
a good target for preservation and access activity.
The journal has been printed on poor-quality paper and
is likely to become brittle in the near future.
Between Fran Pritchett’s holdings, CRL, and
LC, a near complete run is already assembled. SAMP
will assemble as complete a run as possible prior
to filming.
RMRL staff will also use their Wicks & Wilson
film scanner to scan the film to make digital copies
of these reels, and will place them on CDs to be sent
to Chicago for mounting on the web on DSAL [with article-level
indexing to be provided]. |
