early Marathi and Sanskrit poetical works. Edited with
copious notes, critical and explanatory, by Janardana
Balaji Modak and Kasinatha Narayana Sane.
The British Library should be holding 11 volumes
(per the Supplementary Catalogue of Marathi and
Gujarati books in the British Museum by J.F. Blumhardt
[1915]). |

Recommended for
filming by Dr. Sumit Guha of Brown University. He writes:
The _Kavyetihasa samgraha_ "printed a
number of Marathi historical narratives (bakhars)
as well as other literature. It does not seem to be
held by any library in the USA. If this is correct,
may I strongly recommend its inclusion in the CRL
microfilming program?
I know that this publication exists in fair shape
in the old India Office collection of the British
Library...
Interest in the field of narratives is growing: I
know of two Chicago graduate students... who plan
to work in this area, and [another student]... on
the point of submitting... a thesis on this. I have
just organized panel and reading a paper on pre-modern
narratives at the American Historical Association
in San Francisco." |
