In 1989, SAMP proposed filming the Extracts from the Native Press held by the India Office Library of the British Library.  SAMP acquired early collections for Bengal, Bombay, Punjab and the North-Western Provinces.

These are weekly reports on India vernacular and English-language newspapers, arranged by province. In some cases this is the only evidence of the contents of short-lived newspapers, since many of the original papers have not survived. The items selected for notice are often revealing, both of the newspapers' contents, and the selector's criteria. 

The list below is organized according to region and chronology, aligned to correspond to the more recent filming by Adam Matthew Publications (Indian Newspaper Reports, c1868-1942). SAMP's earlier film overlaps considerable with the commercial set, in some cases including material not filmed by Adam Matthew.
