Current Projects Underway
Aljadid
This serial is produced by the Nagam Cultural Project
to be a "record of Arab culture and arts." MEMP
has filmed al-Jadid
from June-November 1993 and Aljadid
from November 1995-Summer 2002. MEMP will continue to
film this title on a continual basis.
Collection of miscellaneous pamphlets and publications
documenting Arabic society and culture.
Beirut Times
An ethnic newspaper from California, the Beirut Times documents
Arab-American communities, with a focus on Los Angeles,
and is being filmed by Bay Microfilm, Inc. MEMP owns August
31, 1985-December 31, 2005 and has a standing order for
additional issues.
Muntada (London)
MEMP will film this newspaper published by the Iraqi
Community Association. UCLA is providing its holdings
of this title for filming, and issues span 2000-2007.
This weekly newspaper from Damascus covering politics
and social issues has been filmed by MEMP for the period
2001-2005 (no. 16-no. 220). MEMP will continue filming
more recent issues of this title.
Qenneshrin (Sweden)
Issues from 2005 -2007 of this Assyrian diaspora newspaper
will be filmed by MEMP. This title is held by UCLA.
al-Quds al-Arabi (London)
This title from London covers contemporary Middle East
issues. MEMP is filming issues from 1989 to 2007. Holdings
are being provided by Yale University and Exeter University
(UK).
Turkish Newspapers
MEMP is filming Turkish newspapers held by CRL. These
films will complement previously filmed material held
around the United States. This is a multi-year committment,

Iraqi Newspapers held at Dayan Center Press Archive
A project committee has been formed to study the possibility
of filming Iraqi newspapers held at the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African
Studies in Tel Aviv.

November 2000.MEMP to select pilot titles and secure
cost estimates from Dayan Center. Will coordinate filming
activities with LC.
al-Waqai al-Misriyah
This newspaper began on December 5, 1828. Holdings
in the U.S. do not include 1828 to 1876. The only existing
copy of these years is in Dar al-Wathaiq on the corniche
in Cairo in Bulaq. MEMP will explore the possibility
of filming this title in Cairo.
