8. New and Prospective Members (Easterbrook):
New York University has joined. CAMP currently has 38 dues-paying
members.
9. Social Science Research Council (Howell
report on correspondence with Ron Kasimir, SSRC):
SSRC will not fund any "re-grants" at this time,
although they are interested in new projects. In regard
to dissertations, he suggested that CAMP work out a relationship
with University Microfilms International (UMI).
UMI reports agreements with the University of Lagos, the
University of Maiduguri, the University of the Witwatersrand,
and the University of Zambia, but individuals must use their
own funds to cover processing. [And very few actually send
their dissertations.]
Kasimir also advises linkages with more African institutions
when applying for grants with Ford or SSRC.
