Archives des tribunaux musulmans de Saint-Louis, Senegal
CAMP will support original microfilming of 19th and 20th century colonial
Islamic court records from Saint-Louis, Senegal, which were originally stored at
the Centre de Recherche et de Documentation du Senegal and the Regional Court
Archive of Saint-Louis.
Congo Newspapers
The collection includes over 160 titles of Zaire/D.R.
Congolese newspapers collected by the Library of Congress
Nairobi Office from 1985-2005. There are long runs of some
titles, but the majority is short-lived titles with fewer
than twenty issues having been published. Sample titles
are: La Bourse, Forum des As, La Cite Africaine, Inter-Midi,
La Libre Afrique, Muten, La Nation en chantier, L'Ouragan,
Le Satellite, Taifa, Aurore, Liberation, and Le Lushois.
Most of these newspapers are not held by any libraries outside
of the DR Congo (and probably not even in most Congolese
libraries). They contain a wealth of information about Zaire/Congolese
politics, society and history during turbulent times.
