Advisory Panel to the Planning Committee

Charge Statement:

The ASC will foster communication and exchange of information: (1) among the different projects, providing a forum for discussion of mutual concerns; (2) between the respective Projects and CSAP, advising CSAP of Project concerns and informing them of Project activities; (3) between the respective Projects and other bodies. The Council will be able to speak for the Projects to outside organizations or institutions.

The Council will serve as an advisory body to CRL in areas where their subject expertise is appropriate, and where their experience in cooperative ventures is pertinent. These areas may include: (1) how CRL's programs fit into other initiatives nationwide; (2) input on the usefulness or importance of particular categories of material or lists of titles; (3) feedback on how CRL's efforts in area studies are being received or implemented.

Composition: Chairs of the 6 Area Studies Microform Projects, ex officio. Permanent guest representatives from affiliated organizations may be invited

Minutes: Informal; recommendations to CRL presented in reports to the Collections and Services Advisory Panel to the Planning Committee

Staff Liaison: Director of International Resources

Meetings: As necessary, but at least once a year; once annually jointly with the Collections and Services Advisory Panel
